Prahova Natural Science Museum
The Prahova Natural Science Museum - http://www.muzbioph.ro - is a special cultural institution in the Romanian South-Muntenia Region, storing in its exhibitions the living and non-living, aiming to train and educate the general public, also through specific training sessions, organized in the Museum halls. Its main core is based on scientific issues with the aim to raise the interest for Sciences, but also to the significance of life. The Museum is housed within the Cultural Palace of Ploiesti city, and dates since 1936. It offers also a big variety of scientific exhibits and displays, which reveal also the geology and geography of the area between Dâmboviţa and Râmnicu Sărat, including an aquarium, superior plant collections and exotic butterflies. The museum has a very complex structure. It consists of 7 sections located in Ploieşti, Bucov, Sinaia, Slănic, Cheia, Vălenii de Munte, Plopeni. More, there are four laboratories, ten patrimonial deposits, library, photo-library, archive and methodological cabinet. The most important activities of the museum are oriented on the evidence of the museum material, but also fundamental and applied research related to material nature, conservation and restoration work, and valorization of the research results.
